Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a credit card to bid? +

Yes. You must register with a credit card to be a 12-Cylinder Member and buy or sell.  Only 12-Cylinder Members can submit or bid on vehicles.  Buyers pay a 5% Buyer’s Premium when they win an auction.  The credit card is only charged the 5% Buyer’s Premium.

Why should I sell at Auction?  +

It’s about control and transparency. Sellers choose the Auction method because it gives them the power to determine how their vehicle is marketed and when it will sell. Unlike traditional for sale methods, where vehicles can sit stagnant on the market for months, an auction is a no-contingency, time-defined sale. That’s powerful! It allows the Seller to plan with confidence.

More and more Sellers are recognizing the strategic benefits of the auction method. Auctions can generate strong interest, foster competitive bidding and deliver true market value. The auction method is a proactive strategy for Sellers who want certainty, speed, and control in a dynamic market.

What happens if I win an Auction?  +

The 5% Buyer’s Premium will be charged to your credit card. After you have paid the Buyer’s Premium, you will be given the contact information for the Seller.Arraignments for the payment of the vehicle, paperwork and transportation are handled offline between the Buyer and the Seller.

What happens if the reserve is not met?  +

If the Reserve is not met during the auction, the Seller has the option to place the vehicle in the “Car Corral” which acts as a for sale lot. The vehicle can remain in the Car Corral for up to 30-days. There will be an asking price for the vehicle. You can offer that amount or make an offer to the Seller.

What is “Anti-Sniping”?  +

Anti-Sniping, aka a “Soft Close” means that any bid placed by a Bidder within the last 2-minutes of an Auction, will reset the Auction clock to 2-minutes. This will continue until there are no bids in the last 2-minutes and the auction closes.

Can I cancel my bid?  +

No. You cannot cancel a bid once it has been submitted.

What is a Seller Agent?  +

A Seller Agent is a Member who was designated by the Seller at the time they submitted a vehicle for the Auction or the Car Corral. When this happens, you will receive $10.00 for being the Agent responsible for the Seller submitting the vehicle. You will also receive .5% of the bid price when the vehicle sells.

(Ex. $20,000 bid price X .5% Seller Agent Commission = $100.00 + $10.00 Submitting commission = $110.00). You can make this on the sale on a vehicle that you don’t even own. When the Auction is nearing its end, you can contact the Seller and help them to decide to lower the Reserve Price if the vehicle has not yet met the Reserve. It’s a great way to earn extra cash!

What is a Buyer’s Agent?  +

A Buyer’s Agent is a Member who was designated by the Buyer at the time they bid on a Vehicle. If your Buyer wins the Auction, you will receive .5% of the bid price when the vehicle sells. (Ex. $20,000 bid price X .5% Seller Agent Commission = $100.00. You can make this on the purchase of one vehicle that your Buyer purchases. When the Auction is nearing its end, you can contact the Buyer and help them to decide to place another bid. It’s a great way to earn extra cash!

When does my vehicle enter the Auction or Car Corral?  +

Usually it takes 1-hour or less for your submittal to be reviewed during normal business hours. Off hour submittals normally will be approved within 1-hour of the next business day.

What happens if a Buyer doesn’t complete the purchase?  +

Sold-Sold-Sold does not refund the 5% Buyer’s Premium unless there is a substantial misrepresentation of the vehicle by the Seller or there are paperwork issues. We will not pay Buyer Agent or Seller Agent Commissions with Buyer remorse. We will give you 40% of the collected Buyer’s Premium provided that you resubmit the vehicle to either the Auction or Car Corral.

What is a 4-Cylinder and 12-Cylinder Member?  +

Both the 4-Cylinder and 12-Cylinder Members receive notifications and can view and comment on vehicles, but 12-Cylinder Members have registered with a valid credit card and can submit or bid on vehicles. 4-Cylinder Members cannot submit a vehicle to the Auction or Car Corral and cannot bid on vehicles. When a 4 Cylinder Member enters valid credit card information, they become a 12-Cylinder Member and can submit vehicles and bid on vehicles.

What is a Dealer Only Auction and Car Corral?  +

Many times a Dealer may have a vehicle that they do not want in their inventory for a number of reasons. The vehicle may have high mileage or have true mileage unknown (TMU). It may have title flaws like “Salvage” or “Water damage”, or the vehicle may be “Off Brand”. For these reasons and more, they may decide that they do not want to sell this vehicle to a retail customer, but rather wholesale the vehicle in an auction format to only other Dealers. For this reason, Sold-Sold-Sold has created the Dealer Only Auction and Dealer Only Car Corral. This allows Dealers the ability to use the Sold-Sold-Sold Auction platform while protecting our Members and the integrity of the platform.
