What is Proxy bidding?
If you are like most people, you do not have the time to follow an auction for its entire length. Placing a Proxy bid allows you to stay in touch with the auction while not having to devote a lot of time to do it. Never miss out on that special vehicle again!
When placing a Proxy bid, you should write in the maximum amount that you would like to bid for a vehicle. To place a Proxy bid, follow these simple steps:
- Click on the “Place Proxy bid” tab located below the bid box for the auction vehicle.
- You will be prompted to enter your Proxy bid in the Proxy bid box. Remember, this is the maximum amount that you are willing to pay for a vehicle. You may end up paying much less.
- You will be notified by email if you have been outbid.
- Bid increments will be equal to the last bid placed. If the previous bid raised the offer price by $200.00, the Proxy bid will raise the offer by that same amount.
- No Proxy bid on your behalf will be in excess of your maximum bid amount.
- Proxy bids will only be placed if no other bids have been placed on a vehicle for 2-minutes. This is done so that you are not wasting time Proxy bidding on a vehicle which other Members are actively bidding on.
- Proxy bids will be placed instantaneously within the last 2-minutes of an auction.
- You may cancel a Proxy bid at any time. However, you cannot cancel a Proxy bid if you are the current high bidder.
- You may increase your Proxy bid at any time during the auction.
- The Proxy bid amount does not include the Buyer’s Premium.
